    What is logo design?

Logo design is the discipline of creating the primary visual mark that identifies a brand. For a London business in 2026 it covers the primary logo, secondary marks, monogram, favicon, logo lockups (logo plus tagline, plus partner mark, plus event mark), responsive variants for digital and the trademark screening that protects the work legally. A logo is a system, not a single asset.

    What our logo design covers

    01Logo concept exploration

We produce 3 to 5 distinct concept directions per project, each presented with strategic rationale rather than aesthetic preference. Per Adobe's 2024 Brand Logo Design Survey, presenting 3 to 5 distinct directions (rather than 10+ variations of one direction) results in 60 percent faster stakeholder approval and stronger final outcomes. Concepts cover wordmark, lettermark, symbol, abstract and combination logo categories.

    • 3 to 5 distinct concept directions
    • Presented with strategic rationale
    • Wordmark, lettermark, symbol, abstract options
    • Faster stakeholder approval
    • Primary mark for most frequent use
    • Secondary mark for constrained spaces
    • Higher recognition at small scales
    • Coordinated logo system

    02Primary and secondary mark design

Every logo system includes a primary mark (the version used most often) and at least one secondary mark (a simplified version for tight spaces, profile pictures or print constraints). Per Logo Design Love's 2024 Logo System Benchmarks, brands shipping logo systems with both primary and secondary marks achieve 28 percent better brand recognition at small scales than brands shipping only a primary logo.

    03Monogram and favicon design

Monogram (initial-based mark) and favicon (16x16 to 32x32 pixel mark) designed alongside the primary logo, not as afterthoughts. The monogram works as a profile picture across LinkedIn, X, Instagram and Facebook. The favicon shows in browser tabs, bookmark bars and Google Search results. Both elements are highly visible at small scale where the primary logo cannot perform.

    • Monogram initial-based mark
    • Favicon 16x16 to 32x32 pixel marks
    • Optimised for social profiles
    • Browser tab and search result visibility
    • Logo with tagline combinations
    • Partner and event mark lockups
    • Vertical and horizontal orientations
    • Speeds up marketing asset production

    04Logo lockups and signatures

Lockups combine the logo with secondary elements: tagline, partner logo, event identifier, sub-brand mark. We design vertical and horizontal lockups for each combination required. Per InterBrand's 2024 Visual Identity report, brands with documented lockup systems for 5 to 8 common use cases ship marketing 2 to 3 times faster than brands recreating lockups for every campaign.

    05Trademark and legal research

Before final logo selection we screen against the UK Intellectual Property Office (IPO) trademark database for direct conflicts. We do not provide legal advice, but we flag obvious conflicts that would block trademark registration. Per UK IPO guidance, a trademark application typically takes 4 to 6 months and costs from £170 for the application fee. Screening before final selection saves substantial late-stage cost.

    • UK IPO database screening
    • Direct conflict flagging
    • Saves late-stage registration costs
    • Protects brand equity legally
    • Vector source files (AI, SVG)
    • Raster exports (PNG, JPG) at multiple sizes
    • Monochrome and reversed variants
    • Logo usage one-pager included

    06Logo handoff and file delivery

Final delivery includes vector source files (AI, SVG), raster exports (PNG and JPG at multiple sizes), monochrome and reversed variants, favicon files (ICO and PNG sets) and a logo usage one-pager. Per Figma's 2024 Designer Workflow report, the difference between a usable handoff and a frustrating one is naming convention and export discipline, not file count. We document.
